Dr Eirini Kouroupi sees patients aged 16 and over for the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of disorders of the blood, bone marrow and lymphatic system.

Benign Haematology

Consultations include the assessment and management of anaemia and iron deficiency, haemochromatosis and other forms of iron overload, leukopenia and neutropenia, thrombocytopenia and thrombocytosis, polycythaemia, as well as coagulation disorders and thrombotic diseases.

A specialist haematology consultation may also be indicated for any persistent or unexplained abnormality of the blood count identified during routine laboratory testing.

Malignant Haematology and Bone Marrow Disorders

Dr Kouroupi provides diagnosis, treatment and follow-up for leukaemias, lymphomas and myeloma, as well as myelodysplastic syndromes and myeloproliferative neoplasms.

She has particular expertise in myeloproliferative neoplasms, including polycythaemia vera, essential thrombocythaemia and myelofibrosis, together with the molecular abnormalities associated with these disorders.

When highly specialised treatment is required, the therapeutic pathway is coordinated with university referral centres, in particular the CHUV for autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) for allogeneic transplantation, ensuring continuity of care before and after transplantation.

Depending on the clinical situation, investigations may include specialised blood and bone marrow examinations, together with immunological, cytogenetic and molecular analyses.
